China's Changan Ford Mazda recalls 236,643 Focus cars to fix stalling problem news
01 June 2010
Changan Ford Mazda, a Chinese joint venture has recalled 236,643 Focus cars in China to fix a calibration software problem that caused the vehicle to stall.
The Focus cars are made through a joint venture between Ford Motors, which holds a 35-per cent stake, Japan's Mazda Motors with 15-per cent and Chongqing-based Changan Automobile Co with 50 per cent.
China's quality watchdog, The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said in a statement on its website that the recalls are Focus cars manufactured between 18 2008 to May 28 2010.
The recall came after several customers complained that the car would stall while running at low speeds.
The car maker pointed the problem to the engine software and said that they upgrade the software at no cost.
